Preparing for college/university.

Many smart people want to go to college/university that are famous. Instead of choosing a famous college/university, you should go to college/university you want. You might have some problems if you are going to the school that you did not wanted.

Many people want to go to college/university that are well known in the world, because it shows that you are smart. But this is not how you choose your college/university. When you choose a school, you should try researching about the school that you want to go.

After researching about the school that you want to go, you should try to prepare for the requirements or how much credit you have to get by taking a S.A.T. But most important things are the service. For example, Beautify CNMI is a great service that you can do. You can also earn many credits by doing services. If you are coming to SSHS, you can also join NHS (National Honors Society). If you join that, they find services themselves and render services. In order to stay in NHS, you must keep your grades high. If you get low grades, they might kick you out of that society.

So it is very important to choose a right college/university for you. Instead of paying all the tuition fees, I would go to a lower level college/university and get scholarship. So you can achieve your goal and save money during the hard time.

How the power outage and economy affect our life.

Saipan, which was a shangri-la before, is now in a very bad situation. Because Saipan's gas price and the electric charge went higher. The gas price is getting higher and higher, but the electricity price increased twice the normal price. So many people are having problems with money.

The reason why Saipan's economy is getting worse is the United States' economy is getting worse. Since United States' economy is getting worse, the gas price gets higher. So many people prevent riding cars. Some companies can't give salaries to their employees.

Saipan must fix the power outage problem. Sometimes when I'm working on my project, the power goes out and it bothers me. So it affects business people much. If the power goes out, they might lose their works they have done. So I think the power outage problem should be solved.

I have a tip for saving electric charge. This is my idea but I think it will work. If you have a generator, put gas in it and run it every day. I think you will use less money than just using the electricity that C.U.C gives us. Our family tried to do that but our generator was broken. So I think this will work if the gas price doesn't go up.

My advice to incoming southern freshmen

When I took a first step at Saipan Southern High School, I felt like I'm having a new life. As I take a first step at SSHS, I had to obey the new rules. But it was a little hard to follow the rules. No one can follow or obey all the rules that they have to. So I will give you some tips for the SSHS.

First of all, make sure that you don't bring betel nuts, lime, cigarettes, and other kinds of drugs to school. Once you get caught by Mr. Indalecio, you will get suspended in the school for few days. You will also get suspended if you fight in school. If you fight in the school, you will get suspended for 10 days. As you get suspended, you are unable to get credits that you have missed. So you might have to retain in the same grade.

Second of all, you should work seriously than before. I hope you guys all know that the credits that you get from high school matters to the college or university that you will trying to go. If you get many credits, they might call you from the college or university to come to their school. Some schools give scholarships to make people come to their school. In high school generation, you can do other activities and get credits. For example, you can join Beautify CNMI and earn credits for college or university. If you come to SSHS and you are doing well in your classes, you can join NHS, which stands for National Honor Society. It will affect you grades very much when you go to college or university.

Last of all, you must follow the rules of this school. If you follow the rules well, teachers will like you and you will not get in trouble. Make sure you obey teachers, because some teachers give low grades if they don't like you. That is a stupid mind but they still do that. Anyway. good luck in your freshmen year!

Interesting Facts I found while conducting my project

While I was conducting my research project, I found some interesting facts on making chicken soups, chicken stocks, and better tasting of coffee.

When making a better tasting of coffee, the temperature of the water and how much water you put is very important. I didn't know if the temperature of the water changes the taste of coffee. I only knew that the tastes of coffee change by the amount of the cream and sugar. So I learned some new things about how to make a better tasting of coffee.

I learned many things by doing this research project. I even got an ability to find things by myself. So I really thank to Mr. Turbitt for giving this research project to me.

Making better tasting coffee

1. Get a standard 8-cup French Press (also called a Press Pot or Cafetiere) and remove the lid and plunger screen.

2. Measure in eight slightly rounded tablespoons of coarse ground coffee.

3. Set a digital timer for 4 minutes and press start.

4. Add hot (195-205 degree F/95 degree C) water up to about one inch below the top. If you have on-demand hot water in your office (that little red spigot on the water cooler), you are ready to go. If not, use an electric water kettle to heat your water just below boiling.

5. Stir the coffee with a plastic spoon or wooden chopstick until it is mixed and all the coffee grounds are wet. You’ll notice some light brown foam (called crema) on the surface, which is a sign of good fresh coffee beans.

6. Carefully place the lid and plunger assembly back on top, but do not push down the plunger yet. Place the pot on top of your file cabinet or desk and let it brew.

7. Check your email or do something strategic for 4 minutes until the timer goes off.

8. Slowly push down the plunger screen until it reaches the bottom, trapping all the coffee grounds.

9. Pour and enjoy.

How to make chicken stock

1. Put the leftover bones and skin from a chicken carcass into a large stock pot and cover with cold water. Add veggies like celery, onion, carrots, parsley.

2. Add salt and pepper, about 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of pepper.

3. Bring to a boil and immediately reduce heat to bring the stock to barely a simmer.

4. Simmer uncovered at least 4 hours, occasionally skimming off the foam that comes to the surface.

5. Remove the bones and strain the stock.

6. If making stock for future use in soup you may want to reduce the stock by simmering a few hours longer to make it more concentrated and easier to store.
